Statoil and NWND Community Foundation Announce Statoil North Dakota Charitable Fund; STEM Teacher Grants Available

Statoil is pleased to announce its partnership with Northwest North Dakota (NWND) Community Foundation and to be the first oil and gas company to support the newly established nonprofit organization with a $50,000 contribution inaugurating the Statoil North Dakota Charitable Fund.

The Statoil North Dakota Charitable Fund will be managed by the Foundation and will initially support investments in K12 Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM)related education. Investments supporting first responders, community safety and emergency preparedness efforts will follow.

The NWND Community Foundation is now accepting proposals for the Statoil STEM Education Fellowships teacher grants. The Fellowships will provide STEM educators with resources to support their professional development and to enhance STEM education in the region for students, educators, and their school communities. Program details, an application, and deadline information are available at http://www.NWNDCommunityFoundation.org .

“STEM competence is a critical component in the education of young people and the future of our workforce. This fund builds on our commitment to support the communities in northwest North Dakota where we work and live,” said Kent Evans, Statoil’s Bakken Regional Manager. “We appreciate the opportunity to work with the board and staff of NWND Community Foundation, and to access their valuable expertise and guidance as we continue to invest charitable resources in Williams, McKenzie, and Mountrail counties.”

“Statoil has always been such a great partner to the communities in our tricounty area, and the Northwest North Dakota Community Foundation is excited to be the vehicle through which Statoil’s community giving dollars are deployed,” remarked Ward Koeser, Board President of the NWND Community Foundation.
